Is Philadelphia, PA, a nice place to live?

  • I'm a college student majoring in Criminal Justice. I have a couple more years til I'm done with my degree. Are their alot of Job Opportunities there? Is it a good place for a young, single women to meet someone? Does it have a fun night life? Is it affordable? Is it safe? What side of town is the saffest??

    I feel Philadelphia has evertything NY does, except the size. It doesn't overwhelm you. Consider living in or near University City. Nightlife? How much can you handle?, plus many colleges where you can finish your degree. Expensive? Like any big city it can be. Opportunities? phila is rather diverse, not the best in good times, not the worst in bad times. lots of banks and insurance companies. Like sports? You'll be in heaven. The Arts. Outstanding! Safety? No better or worse than any other large city. You might find this web site interesting.

There is a lot of crime and the new mayor just added a ton of police jobs. The murder rate went up pretty high. Some neighborhoods are pretty bad. Northeast Philly is pretty safe. The nightlife is pretty cool in the city and it's pretty affordable for a big city, a lot less expensive than NY....
