Does Doylestown PA have a reservoir?
-
I previously asked a question about Doylestown, PA. I forgot to ask in that question if the water comes from a reservoir or aquifer. Or if it's just well. I don't think it's well, because most of the houses I've seen that had well were waaaay outer Doylestown. Also, on Google Maps it says on Lake Galena, "Peace Valley Reservoir". But wasn't Lake Galena built on top of an old lead mine??? Answers please!

Answer:
your right, Lake Galena was built on top of an old lead mine and 150000 people do get water from there (probably more by now) however I can tell you without fear of contradiction that Doylestown, PA gets it water from 13 well 500 foot deep wells. the water in Lake Galena's water (the nesammity creak) flows south/west to chalfont before turning east and misses doylestown. Lead is naturally a curing all aver bucks county, so there could still be lead in the water but its is sequestered before you drink it. Currently some seventy tests are completed in an effort to monitor for Microbiological, Radioactive, Inorganic (lead, copper, nitrates, etc.), pesticides and Volatile Organic Contaminants. All water is tested periodically as required by permit of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). Water capacities are monitored under permit by the Delaware River Basin Commission. the water is safe and plentifully. if you can afford to live in Doylestown go for it. it has nice parks, the best library, good places to eat, lots of police, and an outstanding fire department. to be honest, water quality if exactly the kind of thing a Doylestonien would worry about, you should be Right at home, lol In upper bucks we all just drink out the garden hose! what ever doesn't kill us will only make us stronger :)

I went into the Lake Galena website. It says there, that the water supplements the area's drinking water for 150,000 people. It tells which part of the reservoir the water comes from. Apparently, it's not from all areas. Most of the areas drinking water comes from elsewhere.
