Temple University in New Jersey, Philadelphia?

Why do they say the Temple University is in New Jersey, Philadelphia and 1 hour from New York? When I look it up it says Pennsylvania. What do I need to know about the area and the university?? Is there anyway I can get an internship in that area before I actually attend the University to get familiar with the area?? I am a small town girl and I live in the country farm life. It's very rural and very boring. I'm in my senior year of college and ready to branch off to the city life as my dream is to live in New York. I'm pretty clueless about how to get there and what I need to do. All the information I get from personal experiences on what to expect, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Answer:
Just a bit of advertising... But the School is only 90 miles from NYC & a jump over the river to NJ. Atlantic City is 60 miles away. So your close to both from Main Campus. Main Campus is about 20 blocks from City Hall. Very easy to get to. Great school, I Learned A lot there & The Football team even wins now! Much cheaper than NYC living. Yet only a train or bus ride away. http://www.temple.edu

Who says Temple is in New Jersey??? Temple's main campus is in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania It also has campuses in Center City Philadelphia, Ambler, Fort Washington, Tokyo, and Rome. Temple is a state-related college in the same league as Penn State, University of Pittsburgh, and Lincoln University. Philadelphia is about 2 hours from New York and is a large city in itself. The main campus itself is very safe, but the neighborhoods surrounding it are a little sketchy. And you can't get an internship unless you are attending a college or university.

It's in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is closer to 90 minutes from NYC. And just a heads-up, but the area around the campus in North Philadelphia is pretty dangerous, especially as you head north, so when you go there, try to get a dorm on-campus or commute from a safer part of the city. I hope this information was very helpful.

Temple is in Philadelphia. It is definitely an urban university, meaning in the middle of a big city (just north of the area known as central city.) I was there about 10 years ago, when I lived outside of Philly. I went to visit it with my 3 year old daughter. A security guard quickly approached us, and questioned why we were there. When I told him we had just wanted to view the campus, he told us that was not allowed and made us leave. I was a little shocked as this was so different from the University I had attended, which has about 50,000 students but does not even lock its football stadium or most other buildings. I can understand your being bored and wanting to move to a bigger city (especially New York), but you may want to think hard before committing to Temple. BTW, if you attend a large state university like I did, the campus itself is basically a big city and you will never be bored. Just keep your options open and be sure you visit any campus before enrolling. Good luck!

I grew up in the farm area of Bucks/Mongomery county and I can tell you that Philly is quite a culture shock. The area north of the Campus is improving but C. B Moore ave is still high crime particularly involving the drug trade. You are best trying to find something in the nearby Fairmount section like around the North Star Bar and commuting via bus and subway to the University. Further out but still within 30 minutes is the Northern Liberties section which used to be a bad neighborhood but is now one of the fastest improving neighborhoods in the city.
