Where to live in Philadelphia!?

  • Hello, I need help on where to live in Philadelphia! somebody please help me >o< ok, a little bit about myself I currently live in southern California(suburb) and have to move to Philadelphia in late august for my school (temple pharmacy next to temple hospital) What I concern the most is safety. Also, I won't bring my car to philadelphia, I need to be close around the station and grocery market I did some house hunting around temple hospital and main in last week but didn't like two places that much. Now i'm back in california and won't be back in Philadelphia by late aug, so I need to decide where to live purely by the pictures :( anyhow, could anyone please tell me which place is more suitable to live for me? first one : ridge and poplar (little south of poplar) second one : race and 10th. two places are about the same rent(about 600 w/o utilities, btw is it reasonable for those places?) so, I just need to know which one is a bit better place to live. Also, could you please tell me which one is safe to live with my budget? Please help me out here! :) Thank you!! (also, if there's anybody who have property for rent, you can email me!)

    Race and 10th would be my choice of the two. Ridge Ave. up in that neighborhood isn't what I would call a safe area. 10th and Race is in Chinatown in Center City, so you'll be near a lot of stuff. You'll be close to the subway to go up to Temple. $600 for rent in the city would be on the low end. And most apartments in the Philadelphia area don't include utilities.

I would say the most dangerous part of Philly is Kensington. I know Philadelphia has a pretty bad reputation as far as crimes and stuff but that is mainly because of the crimes that go on in Kensington. You may also want to move to a suburban area. It will be nicer, safer, most-likely cheaper and it will be just about the same distance.

Well you should go live in the little community next to philly. Bensalem is a good little town. everything is near. There are mall supermarkets food stores and temple is only a couple miles away. and i know because i live there there are cheap apartments around there to. much cheaper then living in philly
