What is a cheap city to live in in pennsylvania?

What's the most beautiful city in Pennsylvania to live in?

  • I want to move to Pennsylvania because i love the rolling hills and the wonderful scenery, but which city is the most beautiful? and good place to have a family too, with schools and stuff. Thanks :)

  • Answer:

We live outside of Ellwood City, PA (north of Pittsburgh) and we love it. It's a great place to raise a family, the schools are good, the people are nice and there are lots of things to do from city stuff (museums, sports, opera, theater, etc.) to outdoors stuff (fishing, hunting, hiking, bicycle trails, etc.). We've lived in a couple different states and we love Western PA best!

You'll probably want to avoid actual cities, as they usually have high rates of crime. Pennsylvania is a large state. If you're looking for scenery, as opposed to sprawl, you'll want to avoid the areas around Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg, as they are highly developed. Avoid the eastern end. It is getting developed, even in the northeast, and the Poconos are a huge tourist destination--not something you really want in your home. Honestly, your choice of where to live in the rest of the state probably depends on where you can find a job. The rest of the state has a low population density--not because it's not a nice place to live, but because there really isn't much work.
