Best place to stay near Wachovia Center, Philadelphia?

  • I will be attending a concert at the Wachovia Center. What would be a nice hotel to stay close by? Also, I am planning to use taxi service, is it easy to obtain a taxi after a concert venue there? Thanks!

    Holiday Inn is a block away. Don't stay at any airport hotels if you want to pay $25 per cab ride into town, and be far from the action. From the expensive Four Seasons, Ritz, and Rittenhouse, to the average like Embassy Suites, and Comfort Inn, there are many nice hotels in town. And only 15 minutes away in a cab. When an event is over, everyone wants a cab, so it can be difficult. IF you are staying in town, the best bet is to take the subway, which is right there. Take it to City Hall stop, and you will easily catch a cab there. It is safe, and you will be boarding with others.

you should stay at my house hhah and there are always like a thousand taxis outside of every event but hotel wise the airport is right there so there are sooo many places to stay

The Holiday Inn on Packer Ave is within walking distance to the Wachovia Center. It's not that expensive. It's got a decent bar "Legends". Taxi's are easy to get after an event, but like I said, the hotel is within walking distance.

Someone mentioned the Holiday Inn. They're right, it is right there next to the Wachovia Center, but there isn't a whole lot to do around there after the concert or the next day. It's pretty industrial, and I wouldn't recommend walking around in South Philly at night if you don't know the area. You can stay downtown at Center City for a bit more $$, but you're going to be getting a ton more things to do afterwards, like South Street, Old City and Northern Liberties. You can also take the trains, as they usually keep them running for events down at the sports complex. The Broad Street Line (North/South) or Orange Line will run you up to Center City (unless you know someone that way, don't bother going farther). At Market Street, you can switch to the Blue Line, or Market Frankfort El, which will take you West to the college campuses and beyond, or East to the river, Old City, NL, and South Street. As for cabs, they're not too bad, but the train will definitely be there and is only $2, cheaper if you buy a bunch of tokens. If you call a cab though, you should be fine.
