My family has lived in the Northeast forever, and we all love it. I also like Center City and Germantown. Also depends on your budget.

I would agree with all of these answers except for one - Upper Darby is not a nice suburb of Philadelphia. Parts of it are okay, but many parts are pretty shady. Plus it's near the airport and you would get all that noise. Manayunk is very cool and has lots of good shopping and bars/clubs, which is great for people in their 20s. Roxborough is right next door and is a nice neighborhood as well. As far as suburbs, West Chester is a cool college town, with a nice shopping and restaurant area. In Bucks County, where I have lived most of my life, you'll find shopping, lots of green space and horse farms (these are also in Chester County which is where some good racehorses have come from), fun eclectic towns like New Hope and Doylestown. The only drawback is that this area is more expensive than the city. The Art Musuem area is pretty cool in Philly too.

Hi! Philadelphia has a lot of great " Hot Spots", Northern Liberties is a classy and young part of town. As is Old City. If you dont want to live in the actual center of center city, i suggest Manayunk. It has a lot of cool places and lofts its a real nice town and fairly safe. Whatever you do stay clear of North Philadelphia and West Philadelphia. They are not good neighborhoods at all. I will suggest North East Philly only because in the Mayfair section they have some very cheaply priced homes. However it is small and sometimes considered cramped. Another cool place to live is deffinitley by Kelly Drive, this is right by the river, arguably the prettiest part of Philadelphia. Like Boat House Row area. Philly has a lotta hot spots and you will deffintly find a place u will love. Good luck! I hope you love it! GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!

I would check out Chestnut Hill, Manayunk, and Roxborough. Chestnut Hill is established, and the other two are up and coming. Plus, these neighborhoods provide good train service to Center City.

I would suggest looking at areas in Chestnut Hill. Its a great neighborhood and everyone there is so nice. Plus there are great resturants and its not to far from the Center of Philadelphia. I would also suggest looking at Rhittenhouse Square. Its a bit expensive but the shopping is great, the people are nice, and there is a great nightlife. You also might want to look at University City. There is also great shopping and you would probably find alot of people your age there who go to university.

It depends on how much money you are willing to shell out for a place. All the hot spots are going to be around center city but remember that its very easy to get on SEPTA and ride the bus and or train to your destination. The Northeast is a good neighborhood but, like every city there are bad parts. Try driving around and getting a feel for what neighborhood you'd feel comfortable in. What one person likes may not be what you like.

It would be easier if you added some of things that you are looking for, but here is a quick overview of some good picks. Hipper areas are Old City and Northern Liberties (the latter still emerging). A lot of people who want a little less "city like" end up in the Art Museum area. A lot of young professionals and restaurants and bars. The classic high end area is Society Hill.

I think the suburb of Philly may be the best place to live, like for instance a place called Upper Darby. I love that place. However do not live in University Area, for when it comes to finding a Parking Place It is like World War 111. It is Hell.
