I know the South Side, Station Square, and Strip District have a bunch of dance clubs, not sure if the have raves or technos though. Those are the most popular places I know of for dancing/music in Pittsburgh. If you click the link below and scroll down, The Matrix has "miami style trance music," that's the closest I could see there to what you described.
