Where can I go to just hang out in Philadelphia?

  • I have lived in Philadelphia since July 2010. I was going to college, but recently had to drop out. I also just moved out of center city to the art museum area with my roommate. Whenever I don't have work I just come home and stay in my room and get down in the dumps because all I do is lay around and watch netflix. I would like to find a place in Philadelphia that I can go to just hang out and mingle with people my own age, maybe make some new friends. Just so I'm not always alone and miserable..

    What are your interests? When I had a lot of time on my hands, I would spend my time in coffee shops. If you are looking for people to interact with, there are more possibilities than I can list here. Join a club sports team or take free art classes at the Fleisher Art Memorial. Join a church and get involved with the young adult group. Play quizzo at the bar. Whatever your hobby is, there is certainly some sort of club for it. If money is an issue, gophila.com and phillyfunguide.com allow you to search for free activities. There's no excuse to be bored in a city that has so much to offer. It can definitely be tough to make friends, but getting out of the house is the first step. Trust me, I've been there. Good luck!

the Art Museum has food and music for about 10 dollars on wednesdays. also you might want to go to Rittenhouse Square between Walnut and Spruce and 18th to 19th street. on the Walnut street side is a Barnes and Noble where you can hang out for free.

Your not far from Temple's main campus on North Broad. University City is only a walk over the bridge from the Art Museum.
