When was the last time a white christmas was in Philadelphia?

Last time it snowed on christmas day in philadelphia, PA?

  • when did it snow last in philadelphia, PA

  • Answer:

The occurrence of measurable Christmas snowfall around here is quite rare. Since 1874, it's only happened 11 times in Philadelphia. The last Christmas Day snowfall was back in 2002 with 1.1" of snow in Philadelphia, while parts of the Poconos got slammed with nearly two feet of snow. In 2003, there was a brief snow flurry during the early afternoon of the 25th. In 2002, snow fell during the hours around midnight on the 24th/25th, then the snow changed to rain. The rain changed back to snow on the afternoon of the 25th leaving 1.1 inches. In 1998, a total of two inches of snow fell from the evening of the 23rd into the early hours of the 24th. One inch of snow was left on the ground on the morning of the 25th. Will We Have a White Christmas? It's an age-old question that occurs to almost everyone this time of year.

Not 100% sure but at least once since 2000 - I recall driving my mother from her house to mine during a snow storm, for Christmas dinner, and I've lived in this house only since April 2000. It's not very common.
