Is the meal deal at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure worth it?

If you buy a Universal Studios pass could you use in for Islands of Adventure?

• I'm going to Universal Studios this summer and i want to go to both Universal and Islands of adventure. Are they connected? If you bought a ticket to Universal Studios would it include Islands of adventure? Are they fun for my daughter who is 12? Please answer.

  Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are connected by a shopping/dining/entertainment area called CityWalk. They are two separate parks. The only way you can get admission to both with one ticket is if you purchase a multi-day base ticket (a base ticket allows you to enter ONE of the two parks per day; meaning if you go to Universal Studios one day, you cannot then go to Islands of Adventure the same day, you'd have to wait until the next day); OR you could purchase a park-to-park ticket, meaning you can bounce back and forth between the two parks as many times as you want each day of your ticket. Since you are going during the summer I would not recommend getting a park-to-park ticket unless you are visiting for multiple days as Orlando theme parks get crowded during the summer and there is enough in each park to keep you busy for a full day (and even then you wouldn't likely get to see everything). I think a 12-year-old would enjoy both of the Universal parks, particularly if she likes thrill rides.
