Questions about the Disney Shows?

Disney World questions? 10 points for best answer.?

  • Me and my boyfriend are planning on going to Disney World again. Last year we went in June and we plan on doing that again this year. I have a few questions to try and save money and make our trip a little bit different than last year. We are going to stay at All Star Sports and do the Dining Plan again. 1. Last year we ate at Teppan Edo, Whispering Canyon, Rainforrest Cafe, Mama Melrose, San Angel Inn, Chef Mickey, and Spirit of Aloha. Any other restaruants you would recommend? Whispering Canyon and Mama Melrose weren't my favorites :( 2. I heard Mears can take you to Universal and Sea World. Any one every do that? If so, was it a good idea? And how does the process work? How much does it cost? 3. Any shows or other activities you would recommend? 4. Any other advice or tips? Thanks. :)

    1. There are lots of great places to eat. I would recommend Le Cellier in Epcot and Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom as not to be missed. Boma is also fantastic! A meal at the castle is a great experience, if you can deal with the princesses. Other favorites or ours include Coral Reef, Beirgarten, O'hana's, and 1900 Park Fare (breakfast). 2. Mears can take you; it is going to cost though. You can also grab a cab or rent a car (cheaper) for the day (from a Downtown Disney Hotel satellite rental spot), if you’re over 21. Whether you want to or not depends on how long you’ll be there and what you want to get out of your trip. Honestly, when we’re doing more than Disney, we stay offsite. You can get great accommodations for less money and there really isn’t any extra perk to staying onsite if you will be doing more offsite things. We either rent a house/condo or stay at a Downtown Disney hotel. 3. Try a tour, if you can swing the price. I like the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Also, a carriage/hay ride at Fort Wilderness is really cool. Check out the movie schedule and go see one (free!). 4. I’d go and check out www.mousesavers.com, www.themouseforless.com, and www.disboards.com. Lots of great info, from THOUSANDS of experienced people—including CMs.

We ate at the California Grille (in the Contemporary), which had a great view of the Magic Kingdom as well as great food. So that's a place I recommend. We also ate at Kona in the Polynesian, and this place had some of the best food we ate during our whole vacation. I can't believe it isn't 2 points on the meal plan---what a great deal! Sanaa in Animal Kingdom Lodge was another home run---wonderful atmosphere with view of the Savannah as well as great food with a big herbal tea menu! Go there! If you didn't like Mama Melrose you could try Hollywood Brown Derby in Disney Hollywood Studios instead. It's a really nice place and one of Disney's "signature" dining experiences but my husband wasn't 100% convinced that it should be 2 meal plan points. If you didn't do this already, be sure to get the Fantasmic dinner package next time you book a restaurant at Disney Hollywood Studios. That way, you get the reservations that you needed anyway, plus reserved seating for Fantasmic. Not all of the restaurants in DHS are eligible for this but a dining representative will help you pick. We ate at Teppan Edo too. Another one you could try in Epcot is Rose & Crown Pub. Their atmosphere is really fun (and right on the lake for a great view of the Illuminations show). If you can't decide which British beer you want to try you can have their sampler. At Animal Kingdom, we went to Donald's Safari Breakfast in Tusker House. It was a great experience! Best breakfast we had all week and fun interactions with Donald, Goofy, Mickey and Daisy. It was a great way to start our day in the park. We had breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table to start out one of our days in Magic Kingdom. The meal itself was comparable to IHOP but the atmosphere is more than enough reason to go. We met Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Ariel and Snow White, and the upstairs dining room in the castle is beautiful. Again, a great way to start our day in the park.

1. My sister and I went last year and we loved Paradiso 37. It is fun food, I think it is Central and South American inspired foods. 2. I can't remember the exact cost of transportation, but it was really high! I want to say close to 30 dollars per person 1 way. 3. I do not recommend Cirque du Soleil. If you have ever been to that show before then you will know that it is not nearly as good as the others. However, if you haven't ever seen a Cirque show before then you will probably like it. There were other people that loved it, but my sister and I have seen several other shows and it just did not compare.

1. I personally liked Planet Hollywood in Pleasure Island. A lot of the restaurants in the parks are more for the atmosphere.. I agree, Mama Melrose wasn't the best. I loved the caprese salad though. Also, for a snack .. the nachos in Mexico at EPCOT were simple & good. Or gelato in Italy. 2. Sorry, no idea about this one! 3. I would recommend seeing Wishes Fireworks at Magic Kindgom. They play every night at I think 9 or 10? They are beautiful . I'm obsessed! Also, Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios is great :). 4.-I would say go on any ride possible ( if you haven't already). -Fastpass is great. -Get park hopper tickets & magic hours! You can stay later at the parks. - Have an amazing time.. I'm jealous lol. Any questions just ask!

1. Our favorite places to dine are: -Boma's-Animal Kingdom Lodge -Jiko's-Ainmal Kingdom Lodge -Sanaa-Kidani Village -Crystal Palace-Magic Kingdom -Coral Reef-Epcot -Cape May Cafe-Beach Club -'Ohana-Polynesian (you can see the Wishes fireworks here on the evenings they have them) 2. We used Mears once to go to Sea World. That was 15 years ago. They have several different modes of transportation (bus, taxi, van). I think it was $10 round trip then. It looks loke it's $19 now. Check the web site I included. You have to call Mears & check the times they will be traveling to the places you want to go to & reserve a place. 3. Since you are 2 adults, check into some of the Behind the scenes tours at Disney. We enjoyed The Keys to the Kingdom & the Segway Tour through Epcot. They have some nice Behind the Scenes Tours at Sea World too. You have to sign up for then in the morning, because they fill up fast. 4. Try a turkey leg, available at any of the Disney parks. They are great! Two of you can share one. You could go play golf at one of the miniature golf courses one evening. We enjoy Fantasia Gardens. I've heard that Winter Summerland is fun too. We also enjoy going to the Contemporary Resort & renting a speed boat. That's tons of fun. Have a great time!
