What is the tip for weekly housekeeping at a hotel?

What is considered an average to decent tip for hotel housekeeping?

  • Every time we stay at Disney (or any hotel for that matter) I am stuck with how much housekeeping tip to leave...I usually leave about $2 on the pillow each day, but I wonder if I'm being cheap. We usually stay at the Value resorts, so I'm not sure if being in a higher end resort would make a difference in how we tip? What do y'all leave?? if you don't mind my asking.

    A generous tip for housekeeping is $1 per day for each person in the room. So if you had two people in the room, $2 left on the pillow each day would be fine. I did this my last trip and the housekeeper was so happy. I think half the time they never get a tip.

A $1-$2 is the avg tip for GRA's per day depending on the service you can give more.

In December when I went to Disney World, I left a $2.00 tip each day. It was only my sister and I, so I thought that was good for a value resort. And even better, when we returned from the parks each day, we had a famous towel animal awaiting our arrival (even though we are both adults)!

I would say that most guest staying at a disney resort, especially a value resort do not tip housekeeping.

You tip around a dollar a day per person. You tip not because you leave filth, but because you appreciate the service provided, the same reason you tip in a restaurant. Housekeepers work for minimum wage it helps them buy groceries and shoes for their kids. . It is the considerate thing to do. If you don't care about the service, and would just as well sleep in an unmade bed, don't tip.

Why in the world would you tip housekeeping at any hotel? Maybe you have enough filth to warrant tipping, but I certainly don't.
