What are my chances at University of Florida?

What do you think are my chances of getting accepted into University of Central Florida?

  • I have at least a unweighted GPA of a 3.4, no more than a 3.5 and a weighted GPA of a 3.8-3.9. My class rank is in the Top 5%, but I go to one of those really bad schools. I was never involved in any clubs Freshmen and Sophomore year, but I was in Big Brother Big Sister and VP of Best Buddies Junior year. I have about 75 hours of Community service as of right now. I've taken the SAT and I flunked it. I plan on taking the next ACT and send in my applications, but the only obstacle for me is that I do really bad in standardized testing. Considering my GPA and everything involved, what do you guys think I need to score on my ACT in order to be admitted? Any kind of advice is appreciated. The more detailed, the better! I would love it if someone that is knowledgeable about these things answer my question. Please, and thank you! I will respond if you have anything to ask me, so be sure to come back and check!

  • Answer:

UCF is a tricky school. The admissions staff plays mind games on people! Seriously. You might want to make your SAT/ACT as strong as possible. I know that my friend got accepted there and his ACT score was a 24. He also had a strong background (took AP classes, dual enrollment). But my other friend Stacey got accepted to University of Florida ( go gators! ) and DID NOT get accepted to UCF! She didnt have bad test scores..but not great, but she was ranked #8 out of 700 in her graduating class!!!!!.... isn't that ridiculous! I say do the best you can on those stupid act/sat test!

i think ur chances are pretty high. but write a really good personal statement and tell them in it about why do u do bad on standardized testing and talk about other things that u think limited u from giving your best. This will boost up ur chances of getting accepted and try to do your best ACT. Gud luck!

♥Hi!♥

well I go to college in florida and have lived there for a while. If you have good S.A.T. scores your a shoe 'n Thats all they really care about

I doubt you'll get in. Your GPA is decent, but considering that you flunked the SAT and you didn't participate in any extracurricular activities freshman and sophomore years, you have very little chance of making it into UCF. Get an SAT prep book from Princeton Review and study, study, study. If you have any problems with the material, you can ask a teacher to go over a few things with you. Make sure you write a killer essay and have an English teacher look over it for you. Also, visit the teachers that are writing your recommendations and make sure they know who you are. If you do all these things, maybe you'll stand a chance, but I would still recommend applying to some schools that are easier to get into, like Florida Gulf Coast, University of West Florida, or Nova Southeastern. Good luck!

If there is a doubt about whether you will get in or not you can always go to a community college first. Valencia CC has several campuses in Orlando if you get your AA or AS here you are guaranteed in to UCF.
