I moved from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando about two months ago, (because my husband got a job offer)?
-
I have gotten 3 calls back in the last two months for a job. Over the weekend i sent my resume to a few places in fort lauderdale an already got 3 calls back! All my family is back south and me an my husband cant decide on whether we should stay here in the middle of nowhere or go back home. Plus his job is not that secure...if theres no work theres no pay! But if we go south we both may be jobless, unless i go down there earlier?!!? We are confused any thoughts or opinions! I feel like im fighting for a job up here with women much older an more experienced!! (oh wait i am)~~An i know that's everywhere but do you think I may have more opportunity in a big city?!? I also have 3 children so this would be another BIG move!

Answer:
First off you have already made the move. Your husband has not held this job long enough to know whether it is secure or not. You both made the decision to relocate, so stop putting pressure on him. You need to stay a year. Find something local.

First of all Orlando is not in the middle of nowhere. When you moved you knew the economy was in a mess (or maybe you were clueless and had no idea the unemployment rate in Florida) You should have known the risks of moving here. 2 months and 3 call backs isn't that bad. My sister has been unemployed for almost 2 1/2 years, she gets an average of 2-3 every couple of months. Of course she is just looking at specific jobs. So depending on what you are looking for, there are jobs available, best suggestion, most places aren't advertising jobs (if so they get to many applications for example 1 job where i work got 563 applications for 1 job, not very good odds, and that is happening everywhere) , you have to go to them to find out if they are hiring, be prepared, it might take a while, but if you don't want to wait, go home.
