What are the top jobs in Florida?

What is Ocala Florida like? Housing...jobs...schools?

  • Im thinking about moving from PA to FL soon but was wondering what Ocala FL is like. I have family that lives there which is why Im picking that area. What are the average prices of 2 bedroom rentals? Are there decent jobs there? Any info and input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

    I was offerred a job interview towards that area and didn't take it. It's more of a retirement area.. not very builtup.. I still remember a disturbing news story towards those parts of a girl in HS being arrested on a felony charge for bringing a steak knife to cut her lunch. Florida can be pretty stupid at times about making mountains out of molehills and making felonies of petty offenses. Let's see if I can dig up that story.. My mistake.. a 10 yo girl .. bwah hah hah.. this should convince you how pathetic the area is.

Ocala is alright... I personally wouldn't want to live there because its a little to rural for me. I'd much rather live in Orlando (an hour away) or in another surrounding city that isnt as rural, but thats just me. Ocala is nice and pretty though. When you say 2 bedroom rentals I dont know if your talking about houses or apartments... but most apartments will be about $600-$900. There are jobs everywhere, it really depends what kind your looking for. Florida is nice, I'm sure you'll like it! I moved from New York to Orange Park,FL when I was 17, then from Orange Park to Orlando when I was 18 for college, (I lived in Orlando for UCF, and then in Oviedo and Winter Park for about a year after college), and then moved back up to Orange Park. So I've lived up North, and in different parts of Florida. If you like rural areas, you'll be fine in Ocala, if not, try a surrounding city! I'm actually thinking about moving back to Orlando since my husband and I have split.
