What Disney resort is the most fun?
-
Im planning a trip to Disney over the summer. We don't have any little kids, the youngest is 13 but we are looking for a fun disney resort. We are planning to stay at The Pop Century resort to save a buck. We are not going to be at the resort much, 6 nights but going to 4 parks. Is it worth the extra money to stay at one of Disney's deluxe resorts or should we stick with the pop century resort? Also which resort would you recommend for us, we are a family of 3?

Answer:
well if you already don't plan on spending a lot of time at the hotel then why in the world would you spend a lot more money to upgrade to a moderate or deluxe hotel that has more amenities that you don't need? stick with pop century. honestly if you are looking for a fun hotel you have found it in pop century. there are tons and tons and tons of awesome things to look at. you can take a walk down memory lane and see what has happened in the world since the 50's. you can walk around and look at all the huge replicas of toys and you can even play a real game of twister on a life size board. and they have 3 pools to choose from with unique themes.

Well, you could also consider the moderate resorts. In my opinion they are a pretty big step up from the value resorts like Pop Century, but they are nowhere near the price of the deluxe. You are trying to go from one extreme to the other - try the middle ground! If you plan to spend virtually no time at the resort, Pop is fine. But just keep in mind it is a very basic hotel. You will have virtually no amenities, just the basic room. And it does tend to be very busy and very loud because it is such a large hotel. A moderate resort would give you more space and less noise, usually. But because there are 3 of you instead of 4, that will help on the space issue. Why not check out the pictures of the rooms and resorts on http://www.allearsnet.com or http://www.intercot.com That might help you make your decision.

You know what, I think you made a GREAT choice in hotels =D Even though I might think you made a good choice, your kids may want a different experience then the pop century. Sit down with your children and show them the other value hotels and ask them what they think. I think that if your children all like different things then the Pop is perfect for your family. I also hear along the grapevine that Disney has started offering 6 people rooms in the Values (if anytime your children want to bring any friends) =D The only downside to your plan is that the Pop century is a newer value resort and is sometimes very crowded. If you and your family want a quieter stay then i suggest that you stay in one of the other Values, Sports, Movies or Music! Over all, you made a great choice! Hope you and your family ALL have a magical stay!

I highly recommend Port Orleans-French Quarter. This New Orleans-styled resort has a nice pool equipped with a dragon slide, which is fun for all ages. You can take the ferry boat down the river to Downtown Disney or to Port Orleans-Riverside. You can walk along the river on the path or rent bicycles. The eatery (Sassagoula) is a great place to eat; great food and atmosphere. I stay there every time I go.

Pop Century is GREAT. It has a lot to looks at, I believe two or three pools, and the rooms are clean and big. As nice as The Animal Kingdom Lodge is, it's definitely not worth it to pay $300 dollars a night when you'll be at the park all day, and then go to the hotel and pass out. Definitely stick with Pop Century, or sports, and any of those type.

if your not gonna be at the hotel much then just get like a moderate because the rooms at the value resorts are super super super super small the boardwalk polynesian and wilderness lodge are all super amazing resorts most of the deluxe ones are amazing

All Disney hotels are fun in my opinion. No hotels off of the Disney property can provide you with that at-home feeling! Hm, honestly it doesn't matter where you stay. As you said, you won't be spending much time at your hotels since you'll be at the parks four out of the six days. This really means the only thing you'll have to worry about is transportation. Since you will have two days in which to just lounge around at the hotel, you could always hop on one of Disney's provided transportation buses and head over to one of the deluxe resorts to wander around and take it all in. I love going over to the Animal Kingdom hotel to see the animals. However, I do recommend that you rent a car. TRUST ME you'll thank yourself after. (unless you're driving down..then ignore this next part-) It really can be such a hassle to have to board a bus, at least for me, at the end of a long day at the parks back to your hotel (Mind you they are always VERY overpacked and you'll probably have to stand) It's truly not all that bad, but when you're overpacked on a bus and all you wanna do is sit, but have to stand? Oh yeah, you'll be wishing you had that car haha. It's always something I was glad I did the one time my family and I did not stay at one of the Deluxe Resorts. (At the Deluxe Resorts.. Polynesian, Grand Floridian & Contemporary.. there is the monorail service, which I'm going to assume you know what it is.. but if you don't it's a train type thing, that takes you to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and all 3 Deluxe hotels. This is the main reason I've always stayed here.. it's sooo much easier than having to deal with the buses.) Personally I just love the restaurants inside all of them, and how easy they make getting back and forth between the parks. I usually stay at the Contemporary, which is within walking distance of MK. Of course you will have to provide your own transportation to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom as the monorail does not go there, or you can always take the bus. It's really all up to you where you stay, I hope you find what you're looking for.. have fun & enjoy your trip!

Hello, The Value Resorts at Disney are perfectly fine, and are a great choice to save some money while you’re there. The only issue I had with them after staying in the Music Resort is how far away it is from everything. Yes, Disney does provide transportation, but the only options to get to the resorts are the buses which can be over-crowded and smell funny when they people on it have been to the parks all day! If you’re not staying long and you can afford to upgrade a little bit, I would suggest to go ahead and view the other options. You get what you pay for in Disney. The best Moderate Resort I would recommend is the Caribbean Beach Resort. You’ll have the white sandy beaches and the relaxation of feeling like you’re in Jamaica or Aruba. This resort is relatively close to Hollywood Studios and Epcot which with your child being 13, these are likely going to be the most fun. You’ll have to use the bus system here too but it’s much closer to everything then the Values. I have two recommendations for the Deluxe Resorts, but only because I love them both so much! The Boardwalk is the first one. There are restaurants and shops all along the boardwalk and the rooms are spacious and nice. You can take a boat to Hollywood Studios or walk to Epcot. If you walk to Epcot, the entrance you use is through World Showcase which is in the back of the park. It’s a good way to avoid the normal crowd at the front gates! The second resort I would recommend if you upgrade is the Contemporary; you will be spoiled as far as getting around if you stay here! The resort was newly renovated in 2008 and is modern and sleek. There are great restaurants that offer character dining like Chef Mickey’s right in the lobby! When you’re ready to go to the parks, the monorail picks you up IN the hotel lobby as well. You don’t even have to walk outside! The monorail will take you to the Magic Kingdom within a few minutes, or you can get off at the Ticket and Transportation Center, (one of the stops before MK) and board another monorail and head to Epcot. You can also walk to the Magic Kingdom from here. Wherever you choose to stay you’re going to have the Disney magic you and your family are hoping for. They have done an amazing job with making each resort special and stand out in its own way. Don’t upgrade if it stress you out or cause the trip to be too expensive. Just check out the options online and do what you can while knowing no matter where you stay you’re going to have the best vacation!! Happy Planning!!!
