Answer:
I live in Tampa and I had year passes to Bush Gardens. I loved it there! I don't why your parents would hate it! It's a great park. Very clean. You always see people around cleaning the park! They have many different animals. My favorite part are the kangaroos and the wallabies. Looking at their map - it is in the southwest corner. They also white tigers. They are in the northeast corner of the park. They have a train around the park in where you can see lots of animals including giraffes, zebras, deer, rhinos, etc. I'm not a fan of roller coasters - but if you are a roller coaster lover this is the place for you! They also have a few water rides, which I liked! The area isn't the greatest though on Busch Blvd. However, the park itself is very safe. I just wouldn't recommend walking down Busch Blvd at night alone! Right now it is very hot though. It's Florida and it's summer time. Be prepared for afternoon showers/thunderstorms. I live 15-20 mins north from Busch Gardens and today we lots of rain in the afternoon. It was short lived though. They do have some exhibits that are inside so you can get away from the rain, and of course you can get food some from an inside venue if it starts to rain.

Busch Gardens is an amazing park with tons of big attractions (including 8 roller coasters!) and beautiful exotic animals. The park is also HUGE, easily twice the size (as far as individual attractions) of any single park in Orlando. If you're a roller coaster fan, it can't be missed. The park is reasonably clean but it's low annual pass price tends to draw a rougher crowd than Disney does. This same problem happens at Universal since they started the cheap-o "power pass", so expect a similar crowd as you have there. Depending on traffic on I-4, it's a little over an hour from Disney and about an hour and a half from Universal.

I love Busch Gardens, but it is quite a drive from Orlando - 1.5 hours at least. I agree "If you're a roller coaster fan, it can't be missed." It all depends, Disney is more for the younger kids, Busch Gardens has the roller coasters for adults. Its not dirty and the neighborhood is not an issue at all, especially if you're only going to the park and not walking around at night in the neighborhood.

I wouldn't say it's dirty but I also wouldn't say it is worth the drive. Busch Gardens is in a not so good neighborhood. The surrounding area is unstable. If you are going to Disney just go to Animal Kingdom it isn't worth going to Busch Gardens if you plan to go to Animal Kingdom. Edit: Busch Gardens Tampa is 335 acres, Animal Kingdom is 500 acres.

Busch gardens tampa is brilliant, it has good rollercoasters ( sheikra, montu, gwazi, kumba and the new cheeta chase, or something like that, cant remember the name!) it is around 1hr 15 mins away from disney and universal. I went here 2 years ago in october( was the hottest october florida has had since 1940) it was 112° but last year it was only 91°, overall i think it is good.

Everybody can have their own opinions of a theme park. Disney and Universal are in two different areas and Busch Gardens is about 90 miles away. Busch Gardens and their water park have been in Tampa for many years. and it most certainly is NOT a very dirty park and is not as stated in another answer in a bad part of town,

The park has improved over the years. They have a nice parking lot with Trams. The neighborhood around the park is trashy, but once inside you'll be isolated. It is clean and has grown to be a nice place.

Busch Gardens is a clean park. I do not know what happened when you went. I suggest you write a letter to them.
