Orlando vacation, what is the best theme park to visit in one day?
-
My family members (19 people total) are going to Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL) for one days, is it better to purchase a base ticket or a park hopper ticket? Should we concentrate on one park instead of trying to jump to various park in one day?

Answer:
As much as I love Epcot and the other parks if you're only going for one day you might as well get your fill at Magic Kingdom. If you don't think you'd want to spend the whole day there make your second half of the day to Epcot. I only say this because Animal Kingdom closes sooner than the other parks and Epcot has a tid more to offer than Disney Hollywood Studios. If the people in your group are primarily grown ups this might be a good balance between the two.

It depends partly on the day you are going and the park schedules that day. For example, Epcot is always open until at least 9p, but the Magic Kingdom closes anytime between 7p and midnight, the Animal Kingdom closes between 5p and 8p, and Hollywood Studios between 7p and 10p. You can go to Disney's calendar, find the right month, and see the operating hours for the day you are going at this page: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/calendarHome?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage It'll cost you an extra $45ish per person--on top of the $70ish per for the base ticket--to hop. All of the Disney parks have at least a day's worth of material--Epcot and the Magic Kingdom more, and the Studios are getting there--so the only reason to hop in a day is simply to have a different experience. From a transport and time perspective, the best parks to pair are the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, because of the monorail connection, and Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (used to be called MGM), because you can either walk or boat between them. (Make sure you park, and end your day, at the one that closes later!!) If I were doing what you are thinking about, I'd start the day at the Magic Kingdom (arriving 30 minutes before opening), and head to Epcot about 5, staying through Illuminations, and then, if its still open, head back to the Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom is the quintessence of Disney, while Epcot (especially in the World Showcase) is the most "different" of all the parks. You can see sample itineraries for Walt Disney World visits from the links on this page: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/basic-itinerary/alternative-itineraries/itineraries-for-the-rest-of-the-year/ The itineraries are designed for a very different kind of trip (9 days, and for Disney resort guests, so they take advantage of the extra magic hours that only disney resort guests have access to), but by seeing what they recommend you do at each park, they may help you both decide where to go and design what to do!! Hope this helps and have a great trip! Dave

yes just one! it depends on how old you are though to your fav one. If you are a child i would say magic kingdom and maybe animal kingdom and if you are an adult i would say epcot. But a lot of adults hate epcot and some think it is amazing. I am 15 and my my mum absolutely loves epcot but she loves all of disney world. Some dont like epcot though because most of it is about other dulture liek the chinese norwegian and things like that. But you might like hollywood studios!

The parks are too far apart to try and "hop" if you will only be there for a day.I would suggest getting a Disneyworld book and deieding which paark would be best. They are Soooo doiferent- MGM is good if you have older kids (teens) EPCOT is Great if you are into culture .Animal Kingdonhas a good variety of rides and shows. Magic Kingdom of course is what Disney is all about. Good Luck and have fun!!

Ok! Look! you must purchase a park hopper ticket... why? because almost all the people are looking for good shows and cool rides... it is important tp know that if in your family there is no little kids... you must buy because of the fact that the most rides and shows in disney world are for the little ones... If you are looking for something more thrilling you have to go to Universal Orlando... is has a lot of things for all ages and i want to say that if you only can go to one park for the day your choice gotta be island of adventures(thrilling) and universal (shows) and if you have little kids theres a lot of choices for them too!!! see ya bye !!!!!!

I would focus on one park. you will have too much going with everyone. I would go to the Magic Kingdom. its the best park out of all, it has the main castle in it, along with the most classic rides, like peter pan, its a small world, haunted mansion, and splash mountain. I think you would all enjoy it! thats the most favored park out of all.
lol
I think the parks are way too spread apart for you to be hopping all over the place all day, i love disney world more than the next person, but this time i think its best that you go to Universal Studios. Theirs 2 Theme parks and they are a 3 minute walk from each other. their pretty fun, but you get more out of it if you go their for a day then disney for a day.
