What is the best way to get travel deals?

Planning a trip to Disney in Sept, struggling for best way to get there with increased travel costs. Ideas?

  • We are planning our umpteeth trip to WDW in September. We haven't been in two years and the youngest doesn't remember the last trip, so this is a big deal for us. We will be staying a week and have booked a great package. However, now we are struggling with the best way to get there - on the cheap. In the past we've always found airfaire (from Nashville to Orlando) for about forty nine dollars each way. Of course, we've never had to pay for our youngest but will this time. Best deal I have found is around eight hundred dollars total for a family of four to fly down. Buses are out of the question with young kids and although we can drive, we'd rather not due to the length of the drive. Also, seems like that in and of itself would be pretty expensive due to gas and the probability of having to stay somewhere overnight on the way. Okay, so what would you do? I need to come up with the best/cheapest way to get to Orlando from the Nashville area in September for a family of four

    Just keep checking airline websites. I would think driving would be a good idea because you wouldn't have to rent a car.

I would check the discount airlines like Airtran and Southwest. If you can't find something that works, I would drive. I really feel your pain. We are a family of 5, so we drive everywhere. Airfare for all five of us would just be way too expensive. One of the benefits of driving, is that you are not limited with packing. Also, you can stop at the grocery and pick up bottled water and snacks which can save you a lot in the parks. Good Luck!

train :) and subways... you can drive tto but that can take days depending on where, and how often you stop and sleep!

If you fly into Orlando Int'l Airport, they have that free shuttle to the Disney parks, which is a great stress reliever. Sometimes I find cheaper flights into the Sanford, Florida, airport, especially on certain inexpensive airlines. A good website I've found is www.sidestep.com. I found cheap last minute tickets for $156 roundtrip per person, but I've seen them for as little as $59 per person. Not bad!! =)

Driving will be the cheapest, but probably not worth the extra cost, especially if you are staying in the resort. You will see a fare equal to or about the same cost as before. Check on Wed. at midnight. Cheapest.

My parents always drive. It is long, but it isn't too bad. They like to leave around dinner time and drive through the night. My brothers and I sleep in the car.
