Walt Disney World tips and advice?
-
I surprised my lovely fiance with a trip to Disney World set for this June. This will be our first trip there and we are very excited. I was hoping some of you may have some tips and advice for our trip. We will be there 7 days and nights and have park hoppers, so that we can visit any park at any time. I have looked online for info and must admit it gets very confusing with all there is to do and see at Disney World. We are also late 20's and already have hotel and Disney tix. Must sees? Dining? Any helpful tips. Thank you!

Dinning tips. You may want to make arrangements now for special nights. Epcot has great places for evening dinning. Eat late in England, you can watch the fireworks as you eat. Ask for an outside table. Eat in France very classical. Great food and wine. Mexico is dark and fun. It has a live band most days. Try Canada for lunch, great potato soup. Visit downtown Disney. Be sure to go to the Boardwalk in the evening, great place for music and dancing. Flying fish for dinning. VERY important, Stop at the town center at Magic Kingdom first thing, get a pin that says my first visit or my birthday. Where the pin all day in the park, cast members will treat you special. You may get free desert. The cast members seem to love doing something special for people with a pin. You can also get the pins in all the parks but I forget where. Just ask as you go in the park. Get one every day, you will love the attention. Enjoy and be sure to drink lots of water, you will need it in June. Where are you staying? I will check back with additional info Take the Disney bus from your hotel to the parks. About 30 to 45 mins to the parks via bus. If you leave the park at general clossing it will be 15 to 30 mins longer. But, take the bus its the way to go. If you do deceide to drive, go to and park at the Contempory hotel. Tell the guard you are going to rent a boat or going in to shop. Take the monorail from the Contempory to the park and back. You will be there for a long time so if you take the monorail stop at all the hotels on the monorail and look around. Each is different and interesting.

First tip... Start early AM in animal kingdom the animals just got fed so they are all out and about. Also, try starting your day in the back of the theme parks. You'll find most people are hitting the first rides they see bumping up wait times. Hollywood studios is fun but there's not too much to do there anymore except the Rockin Rollercoaster which is a must. You have the 7 day hopper so take your time. Food wise I'd advise eating far far away from the parks since it's very expensive. There are a ton of places to dine that are around the parks and easy to get to. (you don't have to pay parking more than once either...it's good all day and to all parks in one day as well.) If you choose to dine in the parks I'd suggest Ohana's at the polynesian. Go later at night and request a window seat overlooking Magic Kingdom you'll see the fireworks from and amazing view. It's very romantic. That's all I've got as of now. If you have any other questions hit me up.

There are way too many tips I could give you to fit into one answer but you can email me if you have any specific questions. These are just random tips: -Never go to Animal Kingdom if they forecast for rain. There is nowhere to hide in that park if the skies upon up. -Never forget that Fastpass is an option. It useful but before you go to get a fastpass check the return time. It could be 12 pm but sometimes the ride is so popular that day the return time might not be until 7 pm that night so check beforehand. For most rides, you can't get another fastpass until the first ones time is up. -Wear old, broken in sneakers to the parks. Don't wear new sneakrers, flip flops and don't let your fiances wear high heels. You will regret it. You take about 20,000 steps in Disney World per day. However, do bring flip flops for just walking around the resort and to and from the pool. -Just in case you get blisters, bring a box of bandaids from home with you. They cost $5 a box in Disney World. -If you want to save money on snacks and breakfast then bring granola bars and other items like that from home so you can save money. -Also, hotel gift shops and food courts tend to close earlier when the parks are open later (especially when you're going in June) so if you're hungry that night you won't have anything to eat. Bringing snacks from home is definitley a good idea. -Be aware of the drinking water in Florida, most people say it tastes bad and some people even get sick from it. -Bring anti bacterial with you, Disney World is a germ zone. -Buy ponchos from a dollar store at home so if it starts raining in the parks you can still go from ride to ride without getting soaked. They cost about 8 dollars in Disney and they don't make good souveniners. -The best advise, use Disney Extra Magic hours. When you get to the hotel they will give you a list of all of the park hours during your stay and the list of Extra Magic Hours. It helps you get more things done. -I was going to recommend getting the park hopper but you already did, that's an excellent choice. -When you get to Magic Kingdom, start at the back of the park and then work your way to the front. Most people start at Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and it gets busy in those areas fast. -When you get to Hollywood Studios, go to Toy Story Mania first. It's the newest ride, it's great but it's extremely popular. -In Epcot, go to Soarin first. It's the most popular ride in that park. -In Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest in the most popular ride. -If you want to go on Kilominjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom go in the morning. That is when the animals are most easier visible and they're actually walking around because they're hungry and active. I just went with my boyfriend and had a great time. Enjoy! EDIT In regards to how long it takes to travel from park to park from All Star music. It takes about 20 minutes to and from Magic Kingdom, about 10 minutes to Animal Kingdom, 15 minutes for Epcot and Hollywood Studios. It's also about 20-25 minutes from Downtown Disney. Your resort is in the Animal Kingdom area and it's closest to the water park, Blizzard Beach.

Since you are talking about researching online, let me give you this: http://www.allearsnet.com That is THE best planning site out there, and you can find anything! That's all you need. They have descriptions of all the attractions and all the restaurant menus! Also, I recommend the Birnbaum's guidebook. It's a good beginner guidebook, not so detailed that it is overwhelming, but a good overview. For dining, check out those restaurant menus and plan your meals ahead. You need reservations for any sit-down meals you want. And why not have a character meal, also. Since you have park hoppers, one thing to consider is that all of the resorts also have restaurants. So maybe you might want to spend the morning at a park, leave and eat at a resort, take a break in your room, and go back to a park that evening. Still, I would recommend reservations for anything you have your heart set on, but resort restaurants are easier to get into, less busy, and just as good! Disney posts the hours of their parks on their website, you may want to check ahead. See what times special events like parades are being held. It will help you plan your days a little. These are my must-sees by park: Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Wishes (fireworks) Hollywood Studios: Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, Great Movie Ride, Star Tours, Muppets 3D, Toy Story Mania, Indiana Jones and Lights! Motors! Action! shows Epcot: Test Track, Soarin, Mission: Space, Spaceship Earth, walking around and exploring the back section (World Showcase) Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris

Did you get the water parks option too? There's nothing better then spending the morning at one of the parks and then zooming off in the afternoon for some water park fun to cool off. Blizzard beach has some great water slides that actually propel you up a slide to start, really fun. Typhoon lagoon is a blast too, snorkeling in the coral reef there is a must. All of the parks are fantastic; you'll find tons to do at all of them. If it's a rainy day hit up epoct, there is a lot to do in doors there. If either of you get motion sick stay away from mission to mars, or at least do the version of the ride that doesn't spin you as much. Being stuck in a centrifuge made me feel sick for the good portion of one of the days we spend there, not a good way to spend your holidays. The meal plan is fantastic; it helps to plan out where you want to eat a bit before you go. I also recommend allears.net you can see all the menus there and choose where you would like to eat. I highly recommend eating at the table service restaurant in Japan in Epcot, hands down the best steak and shrimp of my life, and cooked right in front of you! Beergarden in Germany was also fantastic buffet style place. The morocco meal was our most disappointing, but still a decent meal, just not spectacular. Have a great time! Don't forget to find a bit of time to relax by the pool in your hotel, it is a vacation after all!

There are so many tips you might want to invest in a book, there are lots of them out there, including ones for just adults without children. If you are going in June I would highly recommend reservations for any sit down restaurants you will eat at. It takes some planning because you should make the reservations 90 days in advance. It is worth it though if you walk in to the more popular restaurants without reservations you could wait a long time ( i have heard up to 4 hours for dinner!!!)
