Things to do near Satellite Beach, Florida?
-
We're going to be visiting some family in Satellite Beach and we'll have my 4.5 yr old daughter with us. We've decided not to do Disney or Universal this time around, opting instead for just some beach days. We don't live anywhere near the ocean so I'd love to take my daughter some place special where she can really get a great experience with it. I was thinking some kind of boat ride / whale or dolphin watch - type thing. She's pretty mature and patient for her age and would love something like that. Can you recommend anything nearby (Satellite Beach, Melbourne, Indialantic,Cocoa Beach, etc)? Thanks!

Answer:
Take the kids to a Mr. Science Show! There is a Wednesday morning program for 3, 4, & 5 year olds. The program is titled "My Little Genius". (The Satellite Beach Recreation Department has other programs too, for all ages.) Mr. Science Laboratory 1089 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, FL (321) 773-6458

Florida beaches are some of the best in the world. Whether the Panhandle beaches are calling your name, or the kids are begging for a seashell-hunting weekend in Fort Myers Beach, you have lots to choose from. When it comes to choosing the best Florida beaches for your summer vacation adventures, the answer will depend on your preferred waterfront activities. Certain beaches are great for bird watching, while others are better for surfing or snorkeling. With some light research ahead of time however, you’ll be able to visit numerous Florida beaches with confidence, knowing what amenities and conditions you’re likely to find.

You don't say when you plan to travel, From just about now until at least Easter Week, there is very little activity. The water is much to cold for swimming. Satellite Beach is a very small town and even in high season it is very, very quiet. There might be a bit of activity around Cocoa Beach, but not much.

Here are a few ideas for you: These tours are on the Banana River side, and the boat is a 20 seat boat, not too big and not too small. Wildside Tours in Cocoa Beach http://www.wildsidetours.com/ My theory is that we are never too young to kayak. I had my girls out in canoes and kayaks as toddlers. Adventure Kayak of Cocoa Beach http://www.kayakcocoabeach.com/ This is a bit of a drive, but I think a 4 year old would love this place. Brevard County Zoo http://www.brevardzoo.org/
