When is the tax-free week, for Florida?

Florida vacation next week?

  • Hi, we have a vacation planned at Orlando Florida, we'll reach there on Wednesday night and will be there for almost a week. I'm really concerned how it would go looking at the weather (Fay!) now :( But we have booked everything more than 3 months back. AND everything is booked for 6 people.. so just can't afford to cancel! we are a family of 6 with 2 kids under 5, our main attraction is Disney world..will we be able to enjoy? Anyone in Florida, how is teh weather now? and how will the next week be? Any tips ?

  • Answer:

I live less than 10 minutes from Epcot. The storm in Orlando has just been 20 mph winds and rain. There hasn't been any flooding or wind damage in this area. Disney, SeaWorld and Universal have been open regular business hours every day and I'm sure they have no plans to change that just because of a little rain. Local weather says this storm should be past us by tomorrow with a little luck but more likely Sunday. You shouldn't have anything to worry about with Fay by next week. Our normal weather pattern for this time of year is rain for about an hour in the afternoon, in fact it's usually a pretty spectacular thunderstorm but it only lasts about an hour. The storms usually hit late afternoon around 3-4pm. It's also pretty hot down here right now. We've been in the low 90's with high humidity so make sure you dress light and stay hydrated. Welcome to Orlando and enjoy your stay!

Yeah, I am here...in Melbourne. The flooding is really bad in places. I haven't been able to get in and out of my neighborhood very easily due to the flooding. Whatever you do...plan on buying some mosquito repellent when you get here! Hopefully by next week the water levels will be down, but it will still be hot and humid, so bugs will be a problem for sure. Disney has been open almost every day through this entire thing...amazing...but true. Have a good vacation!!

i wount lie to you its kind of rainy but fay is suppose to leave by saturday , but supposedly there is another system out on the atlantic but they arent sure about it yet. just keep an eye on it on the weather channel. but if its not sunny you will still be able to enjoy it especially with kids, its better because it wount be so hot. i have two young ones and they are so miserable when it is too hot. hope you have an awesome vacation! go0d luck!

It is rainy, but actually this can be to your benefit as you visit the area theme parks....when it is cook and rainy, the parks are less crowded and lines are not as long. I would not worry about Fay affecting things...just make the most of it...a little rain is better than being wet with sweat!

Since August is the worst month there, of course it's going to rain, but actually a relative is there now and they said that it's going to get better by next week, i don't think it should be too bad, don't stress it out.. plus rain = less waiting for rides!

well the places around orlando are really flooded. i live in seminole county, about 40 min away from all the parks and stuff, and orlando wasn't affected that bad from the storm. you should be fine.
