• This summer my family and I are going to Orlando for two days and then leaving for a cruise. We want to do something fun, and kind of do some site seeing since we've never been.We don't really want to go to any water or amusement parks though. Can you suggest anything to do or places to see while there?

  Orlando is actually a quite small city located in a large area. The city has a population of less than 300,000 and the metro area has well over two million. For example Disney World is not in the city of Orlando - Universal Resort is. The area is still quite rural - five counties and many small to medium sized towns. There is just about everything you might find in a bigger city. Main problem - no mass transit system - so you ave to rely on you own car or the city bus. There is just about everything except mountain climbing and snow skiing. Fishing is certainly unique - Ocean or deep sea fishing available within one hour and gulf fishing two hours. Also inland lakes great for fisherman. One thing that is almost unique is the number of natural spring fed spas. Clear pure water that remains all year at 72C - feels cold in the summer and warm in the winter. I like to take visitors to some of the smaller towns, like Mount Dora-Deland or Clermont. There are really dozens of informative websites - check all five counties - Orange -Seminole - Lake - Brevard and Volusia. There is always some kind of a country fair or festival going on. Once you get out of the theme parks area, you will find almost strictly local folks and MUCH lower prices.
