Questions about imagineering jobs at disney?

• How does one earn their way up to an imagineering job at disney? How hard is it to find a career at disney to write tv shows, movies or design the character's wardrobe? Also, what does one need to do to prepare for the job in terms of as schooling and work experience, along with activities and other experiences that one needs to fulfill for the job. How important were high school grades and honors classes for the job? I would appreciate other information as well. Thank you!

  I am not an Imagineer, but I used to want to be one so I'll give you the advice that I got. Look into the Disney College Program (you have to be in college to do this). During the program, you go and work at the parks either in Orlando or in California. It's a huge opportunity for networking, and since you'd be working within the Walt Disney company, you'll have the chance to meet important people. You don't need to be in any particular major to do the program, or any particular grades (unless your school says otherwise), but it seems like you want to go into the entertainment industry, so you might want to look into majors dealing with that. I'm doing the Program in the fall so I'm extremely excited about it! Imagineering is a very difficult career to get into because it's competitive, so you definitely have to work your way up from the very bottom (the bottom being a job in the park or something). And don't cheat yourself out of good classes or stop caring about grades because they still matter! No matter what field you go into, you should try to earn the best grades you can. Also look for entertainment internships near where you live or go to school. They'll probably be unpaid, but you'll need the experience. There's also the Lunch with an Imagineer program in Hollywood Studios in WDW, Orlando. It might be pricey, but you get to meet a real Imagineer and talk to them about pretty much anything. NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK! With the Disney company, it's not what you know, it's WHO you know. That's a very important thing to remember.
