Questions about Star Wars Weekend at Disney World?

  • My sister is in love with Star Wars and we have always wanted to go to Hollywood Studios during the Star Wars weekend. I was wondering when was the best time to attend that? Would going the last weekend be bad? Also does anyone have any suggestions about hotels under $100 near Disney World where we could stay? We have been to Disney about 5 times, but we always stay at a resort. We are trying to save some money this time and stay on a budget. Any suggestions would be great!

    Don't know much about Stars Wars weekend...I think the "appearances" vary so you would have to see a calendar of that and see who you might want to see the most. As far as a cheaper hotel near Disney - there is one that is a good neighbor hotel to Disney that is very affordable. It is called Seralago. We stayed there once and it was safe and decent. Not plush of course -but it worked.

If your sister is a SW fan (like me) Let her know that this August Star Wars Celebration will be at the Orange County Convention Center.(Orlando Florida) They had this event two years ago and I went, it's soooo much fun. It's all the die hard SW fans, and George Lucas was there last time. They weren't suppose to have this event come back again, but it got so great of a response they are bringing it back again this year. Tell her to google Star Wars Celebration and it will give all the details.

We had an option of staying at a hotel outside the park for free using my husband's points but after doing the math we came into the conclusion it would be cheaper to stay in the park. We would have more trouble driving in and out and paying for our food out of pocket. We found using the dinning plan and including tickets and resort would be cheaper. Best part is not to burden ourselves and try to get our trip paid before our stay. We've stayed at the Contemporary resort but now we're on a budget too and we plan to stay at the Pop Century. We only used our pricey hotel for sleep and shower anyway. I was told by the WDW operator that Star Wars weekend is usually very busy. We're not going when that event takes place but looking at the pictures it looks amazing. Have fun on your trip!

Star Wars is pretty much busy every weekend it is offered. I haven't personally noticed that big a difference in crowd levels for one weekend over the next. It's popular and busy all the weekends. Have you looked up the value resorts at Disney? Several times a year they are under $100. Otherwise, International Drive is a good bet for many choices.

I recommend a Disney Value Resort. (My personal preference is Pop Century: Great pools, good food, awesome decorations.) I went during Star Wars weekends during one of the last weekends last year, and no, it wasn't bad at all.

stay at a value resort in WDW. for the price and convenience it is the best way to go. No going the last weekend will not be bad. they still have SW guests, and the parade and stuff to buy
