Special things at Disney World?
-
So, my family (Mom & Dad, 2 adult sisters, their husbands and kids, me, my husband, and my daughter) are all planning on going to Disney World. We're going for 8 days, so we'll have plenty of together time, and all want some special alone time with just our immediate family, to get some collectibles or memories. A moderate preice is best. Sister #1 and her family are planning a special thing by doing the "Pin Exchange," wherein you can trade pins you have with Disney charaters for the collectible ones they have. Sister #2 and her family are planning a special thing, doing all the penny smashers and collecting them. You know, where you put a penny and 2 quarters in and it smuuushes it into a design? What can I do special with my immediate family? I haven't been to WDW in ages, and there's so many internet resources that I can't find any real info inside all the clutter. Any suggestions would be appreicated

Answer:
I would do the hidden Mickey's, Its so fun and you can get your picture by each hidden mickey, You can go to guest services and ask for the hidden mickey map that will give you clues and check lists. Its a good time and fun for the kids, each park has hidden mickeys so it will take you a few day's to get them all.

How about buying Autograph books and collecting autographs from the various Disney Characters? If you plan on visiting all four parks, Epcot is one of the best places to meet and greet with characters. It's indoors and they're all in one area. At Magic Kingdom, at Mickey's Toontown fair you can meet and greet with the Princesses as well as various Storybook characters. And there's other character greets all around all four parks. Just make sure to pick up a time guide when you pick up your map at each park. It's helpful with the times and places that you can meet the characters.

First, one way to punch through the general clutter is to look at this site--it's meant solely for first time visitors to Walt Disney World: http://yourfirstvisit.net/ Second, a special thing you could do with your family is hunt for, and record (camera or in a notebook) hidden Mickeys! See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidden_Mickeys Have a great trip!! Dave

If your daughter is young, maybe autograph books would be a good option. She can meet the characters and get an autograph and a picture! Also, looking for hidden mickeys is fun. They are everywhere, at least two or three on each ride/attraction. You can look for them and take a picture! Have fun.

The ideas are limitless. Pictures in front of each gate going in and going out. Finding hidden Mickeys. You will think of something.

Like some people said, autograph books. My family has a special thing that we do at the beg. of every trip. First we get in from the airport, get our car, and drive to our resort on disney property. After we stop there, we go straight to Epcot. After we are there, before we do anything else, we go onto Spaceship Earth. My parents took me to Disney World when I was one, and that was the first ride that I ever went on, so now it is still that way. The first ride that I go on. Never has, and never will change. Maybe pick one ride from every park and ride THAT ride right when you get to the park and right when you are going to leave. A fun thing to do is to find all of the hidden mickeys. this is really fun for smaller kids and adults alike. Almost every ride has at least one hidden mickey somewhere. You can get a book that says where they all are to help you see them yourself. Disney has just put in some new ones, so watch for them. My family does this and we have a great time. Disney also has a new photopass photo thing where disney castmembers that are dressed a certain way can take your picture in some of the mst popular picture spots. They are everywhere. After they take your picture with your family, they will give your a card that you can scan all of your pictures onto. Then, at the end of your trip, go to the photopass printers in the Magic Kingdom. The price is a little bit of money but not a lot. You can even take the pictures home and then put a password in on the photopass website and then put different greetings and sayings on to the picture. You must do this 30 days after your trip or something. Then hit the send and you will get your pictures soon. Hope that you have the best trip. Stay safe, feel the magic, and live the dream. Ride spaceship earth for me! It really is magical. Best of wishes, epcotexpert

There is the "Aladdin live Musical" that's "new". There is also the special "Breakfasts" with the Disney characters. Lunch at the "Blue Bayou" restaurant, you'll have to make reservations for that . Don't forget the camera ! Even trying on all the different hats in the souvenier shops make for good photo opportunities. Pictures of the kids in the "Star Wars Academy" & other audience participation events are fun.

Hi, Here are a couple of ideas: collect the transportation cards (free), make a character autograph photo mat (inexpensive). See the links below for more info and more ideas! Have a wonderful time!
