How to get over NYC so i can move on with my life ?!!?
-
i'm 23 years old girl from Jerusalem "born and raised" , and long story short, i went on a scholarship to study for one semester at New York university in Manhattan, started January finished in May. These were the best four months of my life, everything seemed perfect and i went with group of students who i hanged out with two of them ALL THE TIME, city was amazing people were different and very good, 24/7 FUN.. great university.. etc i mean everything simply seemed perfect. Since i got back home everything changed and everything look awful compared to the life i had in NYC, the people the quality of life, everything has just been ugly compared to life in Manhattan. " i also broke up with my bf, it's irrelevant but i mean life in general became more difficult". i keep looking at pictures of " good times " and thinking about memories and i simply cant put them aside and move on, hell i even get tearful sometimes thinking about where i was and how i'm not there anymore, i watch movies and TV shows simply because they were filmed in NYC area, it's just awful. i'm back on antidepressants yes things are THAT bad. i know i can always visit back but that's not the point, and anyway i wont be visiting probably until i finish school and get a job which is still way too far.. i keep thinking of how luck people who were born there are, consciously i know it's not the place that make the person and any place has disadvantages and advantages and within 4 months i may have have only experienced the good things, but i still feel like **** most of the time. i simply feel my heart was left in New York.. i know probably i sound like a loser, but i thought i would share and see what do you guys think, it always makes me feel better..

Answer:
Some people can live here for years and never truly connect with the city. Some, like you, are here for a month and make a true connection to the city. That connection, in my mind, makes a true New Yorker and its a shame when a true New Yorker cannot be where he or she belongs. Hopefully, you'll be able to make it back here and build your life here. The city can always use another soul who loves her as much as the city loves them.
