Motels in NY, LA and San Fran?
-
Hi, I'm going on holiday to U.S. and looking for a motel in NY, LA and San Francisco for a price of up to $100 per night. I don't want to share my room and don't want to share a bathroom or anything else. I am going to travel on my own. Can anyone please help me find somewhere which also has good reviews? Please...I am struggling to find a place. Thanks :)

Answer:
You will continue to struggle to find places because there just are not many if any. Try Motel 6 or Super 8. They will be the closest to your price range although maybe not in your quality range.

Rates change during the year so you will have to look that up. If money is really tight, you may want to put off the trip. If you can't put it off, at least skip one of the mentioned areas. I assume LA is Los Angeles so skip New York since California will have both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Good luck. http://travel.yahoo.com/hotels http://www.motels.com Additional: If you are too helpless to help your own self, get a travel agent. That is basically what you want to people on Yahoo to do. http://www.tripology.com

Well, first off NY is 3000 miles away from LA and San Francisco (about 6 hours away by plane). As far as hotels in NYC, you won't have many options for $100/night. There are some, but despite what some might tell you, they are dumps and/or not located in nice neighborhoods. You can stay outside Manhattan in an area like Queens (15-30 minutes away via subway) and find something decent places to stay in your budget. You can search hotels, compare rates and read reviews here: http://www.nycvacationstays.com/hotels.htm

It will be hard to find anything nice in any of those cities for that price. Go to TripAdvisor.com and look at their list of hotels, which also have comments from past guests. You do realize, I hope, that it's a long, long way from NYC to either LA or SF. It's a five-hour flight from NYC to either city.

The average hotel price in NYC is about $320 a night. Here is an article from the New York times about budget hotels in NY. They consider "budget" as under $250 but do talk about some options for closer to $120. Don't expect anything with "good reviews". http://travel2.nytimes.com/2005/12/11/travel/11nyhotels.html?pagewanted=1
