How much could a cute, female bartender make in NYC? I'm thinking about moving and want to make sure I could afford the astronomical rents New York City provides before I'm stuck over there and getting evicted. I've heard about bartenders making a ton of money in large cities, so I was just wondering if anyone had any experience in that area, or has heard details about it? Thanks!!

Tending bar is one way to make it in NYC. A good bartender (being cute is great, and will increase your tips, but you need to know your stuff) can pull in several hundred a night in tips. You need to know your drinks, and be fast about it. Last call in NYC is at 4am, so the nights are long. Also, it is a VERY competitive market, and getting a job can be a problem. I would advise you to have a job lined up before you arrive, and a part-time second (read that: day) job can be a life-saver if the tips just don't stack up the way they should.. If you do decide to come on through: dress sexy, be flirty, and have fun.. you should do great.
