How often are the handrails/poles in NYC subway cars cleaned?

Where to safely and cheaply park outside of NYC thats on a subway line?

• Planning on going to NYC for a day since we can't really afford to stay a night, and I'm not going to sleep in my car down there... so we'd like to find a place we can somewhat safely leave our car packed with valuables like laptops, jump on a subway, head to manhattan, spend the day in NYC, ride back, and drive away. I'll be coming from the Bronx side, but I can probably get to the Brooklyn side if need be. Anyone know where something like this would be? I've been to NYC a few times 1 day at a time, but I came in through the airports for work at LaGuardia or JFK and took the train -> subway from there.

  1) don't ever leave valuables in your car. 2) bronx, brooklyn, queens, staten island, manhattan all is NYC 3) you probably meant manhattan right 4) park outside of manhattan in a garage or parkign lot because manhattan parking rates are sky high and doesn't include the 18% manhattan parking surcharge. 5) if parking outside of nyc at a metro north park and ride facility. note that some of these lots are small, or require permits (that only residents of that village can get). and most of those spots are taken by 6-7am anyway. in larger cities like white plains or stamford they have large multilevel garages that you can park your car in. i would recommend you take the car into flushing chinatown (take the whitestone bridge), there is one HUGE municipal lot there located in a busy shopping area. municipal lots are dirt cheap compared to private parking lots. take the 7 train into manhattan.
