New York City vs. Chicago?
-
I lived in Los Angeles (LA) for much of my life. But i have been thinking about life after college. I am really tired of LA, I hate how spread out it is, and how hard it is to find people around. I want to live in a huge mega city so to speak with better mass transit all together. But i had the dilemma of which between Chicago and New York City. I already narrowed down past moving to San Francisco. I like New York City because it is the center of everything, i like the skyscrapers, and love the subway system. I am scared of new yorkers though, i am scared of living there because it intimidates me a bit. Also, i am scared being from the west, it would be harder than ever to get used to the east. I am okay with cold weather, but i am still a bit worried. Next is Chicago, i like Chicago because it is the middle so i can travel more often, it is still a large city and i like the L train, the look of the city is great, and university of chicago would work. But i hate being cut off. I feel that the crime rate sort of bugs, me, and i don't want to have to go to richer neighborhoods, i have saved but it till scares me a bit. Also besides downtown i hear that Chicago is really just a Midwestern type city, and is just as spread out as LA, while New York has more of an urban and suburban look to it. Sorry for this being so long, anyways you can see the situation. Thanks so much! :D

Answer:
Well i can't speak for Chicago, I've never been there, although i'm sure its great there too. I would say NY. Don't be scared of New Yorkers, they're a mess that's trying to get where ever they're trying to get to. If you ever get an attitude from them just smile and move on like everyone else. NYC is really the safest city, our crime rate is lower than Chicagos. You'll never really need a car its too expensive to have and of course we have all sorts of transportation, and its never easy to get lost, you can never get lost in the city. It will be a little tough to get used to the east but its not impossible. Also here you have anything you can possibly imagine.Beaches, amusement parks, amazing shopping etc. a lot goes on here. To me it sounds like you are kind of for Chicago :) Well good luck on your decision!!!

When My family and I were trying to decide where to move to we visited many city's and Chicago by far was the one that really did it for us so we moved here and have not regretted that choice for even one second! It is such a great place in so many ways it would take hours to talk about it all. And the crime is not bad, it is really in just a couple of remote area's. I have never had any problems nor has anyone else that I know of.
