Amtrak Ticket Question?

  • I accidentally logged into my boyfriend's email and I noticed a ticket confirmation for his trip home for thanksgiving break. I quickly skimmed the message to see what time he was coming home and it said Nov 16th... hes supposed to be coming home the 23rd. I think my boyfriend clicked the wrong date. -_- So, I would just hurry up and tell him so he could fix it, but I cant because I went snooping through his email and I dont want to start things. So! I hinted that he should double check his ticket, and he swears 110% he did it correctly. I highly doubt he would surprise come home a whole week early because hes in college and all. So when he does arrive at Penn Station and picks up then realizes he has the wrong train ticket, what happens? What will he have to do? Will he have to buy a whole new train ticket? I'm just scared because he's coming home around the holiday time and train tickets will probably be sold out :( Thank you for your help!

    Amtrak will allow him to charge the ticket with no penalty, if there is a difference in the fare he would have to pay it, as long as the train is available. Ask him to send you the train confirmation. It is important to change it before he gets to the station. Thanksgiving is a very busy time for travel. You do not want him to find out his mistake too late and not be able to get on a train because they are sold out. Ask him to send you a copy of the itinerary so that you know when he's coming. Then point out the mistake. If he calls Amtrak before the 16th, they'll let him switch dates if he pays the difference in fares
