Why don't they build a bullet train from san francisco to new york?

  • Anyone who is anyone would never ride a bullet train to LA - they would drive, because in LA they NEED a car but in NYC they just take a taxi. It also seems like a lot of people would prefer a bullet train to NYC. Leave in the afternoon and arrive the next day after they sleep on the train.

If it was a good idea private industry would do it just as they have with airlines. When things are a bad idea, govt does it.
