How to get to Medieval Times in NJ from NYC?

Quickest & cheapest way to get from bayonne, nj to NYC?

  • I am going to pick my bf up who is a crewmember on one of the ship at Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne NJ and we would like to go over to NYC. He only get's around 5 hours off of the ship before he has to get back on. I've heard nightmares about the commute from Bayonne to NYC which can take up to an hour and seeing that we only have a small time slot to work with, what is the quickest/cheapest way to travel over to NYC? I was thinking of just driving over but i'm not sure...any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

Drive to Newark and take the PATH in or drive to Hoboken and take the ferry or PATH. Avoid bridges and tunnels. I don't know if you can combine quickest with cheapest to make a five hour window work, you usually have to give up one for the other in general, and the commute is expensive and can take up valuable time, so getting some place where you can use underground or on the water mass transit as your best bet for maximum time, and if the parking seems steep, think of what the gas and the tolls would cost you. And this is one time where it's really worth it to give something up for a while, expense-wise, to spend five hours with your BF, right? Have a great time!

It depends on when you are leaving from Bayonne, NJ to New York City. A NJ Transit #120 bus is available very early in the morning for use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNXHFPXfdS8 If you miss that, take the PATH train from Jersey City, NJ or Hoboken, NJ. http://411newyork.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=20960

You don't have to go to Newark, Jersey City ( Journal Square is the name of the station. ) is a lot closer. Then, the Path. But with only five hours, you won't have time to do almost anything. Anyway, good luck.

Light rail to Hoboken then the PATH train to the city

quickest way not driving is the S89 bus over the bayonne bridge into Staten Island. You said you wanted New York City, you never said which part.

Unfortunately, the nearest Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) station is 2 miles away, at 34th Street/Rt. 440. Otherwise, I would suggest taking the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Exchange Place and then taking the PATH into Manhattan (this works for Lower Manhattan. If you're going to Midtown, stay on until Pavonia-Newport) The fare is $1.90 for the HBLR and $1.75 for the PATH. Remember to buy your HBLR ticket before boarding the train, as you'll get hit with a $100 fine if you're caught without one. Unfortunately, it looks like the best way is to drive, unless you can arrange for a taxi to bring you to/from the train station. I hope this information was very helpful.
