Visiting new york in december, whats best to keep warm?

  • Im visiting New York in December, i know its going to be cold, but is t-shirt, jumper, coat, hat scarf gloves ? enough, or is thermal underware needed? im unsure how exteremly cold it is this time of year, thanks

    ONE WORD - Layers It's normally very very cold here in December. You will need a very warm coat (perferrably down), sweaters/sweat shirts, a hat to keep your body heat from escaping your body, gloves to protect your fingers from frostbite and a scarf to keep your neck warm. I also like to wear thermal pants (long johns) and/or knee high socks under my pants/jeans . This helps. :) Also, make sure that you bring comfortable and warm boots.

It can't be cool or really, really cold in New York in December. Take lots of layers. Thermal underwear is sometimes necessary. You may need everything you mentioned in your question, especially if you are from a hot country to begin with and not used to the cold. But inside the buildings will be super-heated, so be prepared to shed lots of layers going in and out. Good luck.

New York has New England winters. It gets pretty nippy around Christmas. Layer a bit. I'm pretty bony so I get cold easily. I usually wear thermal bottoms, a long-sleeved shirt, a sweater, a jacket, and then the usual hat-scarf-gloves lineup. If I'm going to be inside for a bit, I ditch the jacket. If I'm going to be inside for a while, I can strip down to the shirt. If you're going to be sightseeing, you'll want to dress pretty warmly because you're going to be outside for a while. If you end up by a river, you're going to appreciate a windproof jacket.

NYC is very windy in December. It can be very, very cold. It's best to have too much with you rather than not enough. Layering is always a good idea.

hat gloves etc i visited new york in december it was freezing the wind is sooo cold. make sure you get a thick coat and have a nice time its really nice around xmas. i love it!!!!
