Reciprocity from California to New York?

New York or California

  • I'm a recent grad with my BS in criminal justice. After spending the last four years in florida I have come back home to SoCali. My plan was move to New York to pursure my masters in pyschology. Now the problem is wheather or not I should move to New York or stay at home. I know the cost of living is around the same but if i stay home I could save more money because I can stay with my mom also my family is here. However I do love the fact that New York would be something new and that I could live on my own after all I have done it for the last four years. I just need to know what pros and cons to consider before I make this decision

Oh my gosh stay in cali! I lived there my whole life up until two years ago and I totally miss it. Florida has a lot of similarities to cali so nyc would be more of a shock to the system. cold weather, etc. blah!

How much humidity can you handle? The Westcoast is so multifacted, you could easily stay there in a completely different environment than at home.

i've gone back and forth between the two my entire life. ny will have public transportation, but cali has family and a rent free home. ny has seasons, cali really doesn't. but cali has everything. i'm not sure what area you're from, but i'm 15 minutes from the beach, 25 minutes from hollywood, an hour from big bear, and a driveable distance to anything i would want to do. ny is wonderful, but it sucks you in and it's heartbreaking to leave. i chose la because i know when i'm older i want to settle here. plus, jetblue flies out of burbank now, any their tickets to jfk average $300.

well both are outrageously liberal and cali has illegal immigrants and gangsters so id go with new york

New York is VERY expensive. So if cost is not a factor, I would choose New York........

its hard to get a job as a psychologist in New York....there are SOO MANY the market is flooded. Psychologists here make about 60,000 dollars....which is the same as making 40,000 anywhere else in the country
