Where to move to in NY?

I'm going to move to the city. I currently live upstate. I dont no if I wanna live in the city but I do want a highrise apartment. Are there any decent rent places in the city or in Jersey? What are some good and bad neighborhoods of Manhattan and Jersey?

Newport Center in Jersey City, lots of high rises some with fantastic views, easy access to the city by the PATH, Ft Lee, Edgewater, Hoboken

nyc is relly expensive...but mabey brooklyn or park slope are cheaper... as in safe neighborhoods-not brooklyn north, coney island, mabey green point is ok in brookyln or astoria or chelsea idk about nj
