What are some cute boutiques & stores to shop at in New York City - 18y.o. girl?

I'm going to New York City for my back to school shopping in August and I've never been there for shopping. What are some cute boutiques and stores I could go to for clothes? -I'm an 18 year old girl -I'm into stores like Forever 21, Fossil, J Crew, American Eagle.. -I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on one piece of clothing (like $180 for a dress or something ridiculous) so moderately cheap, but we CAN afford more pricey things I'm not exactly sure where our hotel is, but we're in New York City, around Times Square, I think. We don't mind a subway/taxi/long walk, either. Any ideas for cute boutiques and stores that I should hit?
