What is the best way to buy broadway tickets in advance?

  • I'm looking to buy tickets for Chicago on broadway, probably for a Saturday in January. I know it is cheaper to buy them the day of, but that won't work for me. Is there any "best" way to buy tickets in advance? I am aware that ticketmaster and broadway.com sell tickets and add the extra fees, but is there another place/way to buy in advance that might be cheaper? Also, if it turns out that things change and I am able to buy tickets the day of, how long is the wait in line and what are the chances of Chicago being sold out?

    you could check on ebay. Also, I know ticketmaster has fees and stuff, but if you go to broadwaybox.com they have coupon codes for ticketmaster, and you can get much better seats for a really good price. If you're going on a saturday, and you want to get tickets the day of the show, you should get to the box office by the time they open, even if you want to go to the evening showing. Chicago has been out for a while so you probably wouldn't get sold out.

Try telecharge. Below is a link to "Chicago" on Broadway. $64 for rear seat. Don't know if there are any surcharges. http://www.telecharge.com/BehindTheCurtain.aspx?prodid=493 Found them at http://www.playbill.com/events/listing/1.html which is the Broadway Playbill internet site for the paper program you will get at the theater. Have not tried online ticket buying as I usually get tickets at the theater booth for the show I want to see (you have to ask for the cheaper seats or they will sell you the most expensive they have) or at TKTS discount ticket booth at Broadway and 47th St, Times Square.
