What do you Pack for a month long stay?

I am a female traveling to Louisiana for a two month stay. What should I pack?

  • I will be traveling in November thru January.

  • Answer:

Where in Louisiana matters a lot. New Orleans has reliably nice weather in November and generally nice weather in early December. Late December and January can be cold & rainy. Elsewhere in LA is still usually nice in November but may be cold & rainy by early December. North LA may even get some snow, but rarely enough to say on the ground.

Part of our weather is governed by the closeness of the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream, a warm-water oceanic current, that moderates our temperatures towards warmer weather year-round. By contrast, people in the Northern Hemisphere who live on western coastlines in latitudes about about 35 degrees sometimes feel the effects of an arctic oceanic current that moderates their hot weather temperatures but brings in super-cold blizzards in winter. In general, office wear in New Orleans will be layered in winter, not so layered in summer. If you have a good set of galoshes, bring them. Our spring weather tends to get very wet.
