Should I just up and move to a city and just waitress until I find or job, or just continue applying from home?

I am a college grad, graduated in May. I am getting so tired of working these stupid jobs from home. I hate them, and I feel like a complete loser. My town is small, and I surely don't plan on pursuing employment here. There's only one stoplight here, and everyone here is so young. I had to move home because I couldn't find a job in my field at all. Now I just feel like I'm just wasting my life being 22 living with mom and dad. I do'nt have the money to just move to a city nor health insurance. I hold a bachelor's in communications and a minor in business. Should I just moe to a city and waitress for now? I just don't want to just sit and do these stupid jobs for another year, and just "wait" for something to come up. I've always dreamed of moving to San Diego, Boston, or New York.. Suggestions??? I'm currently living with my parents and going crazy. There's nothing here for me anymore really.. I'm not close to anyone my age, but my parents say it is financially wise to just stay here until something comes up.

Answer:
If you're job in your small hometown is 'stupid', why not? It's better to do a medicore job in a place you love than a mediocre job in a place you hate, isn't it? There's more jobs in a big city, and being there is an advantage. You're early 20's are the time for those sort of adventures. The only financial difference is free rent - and that's only a couple hundred bucks if you rent a room with some other grads. I moved to San Diego from the northeast for a few years when I was 23 - it was a great time. I highly recommend it. Now I'm in Boston. Equally fun. If you want my $0.02, New York is an ungodly expensive place to live. It's fun and all, but probably not worth the $$ IMO. Ditto, though to a much lesser extent, with LA & Miami. If you ask me, the best places to be young are Boston, San Diego, Portland, and Denver. They're all really fun, safe towns with a lot of job opportunities and good public transportation.

I'd say your parents are right from a financial standpoint, unless you move to the city and live in your car, which doesn't seem safe.
