Hey! With a hotel, the best way to go is by booking with Priceline's "name your own price" option. I have done this MANY times and have often gotten four star hotels in midtown Manhattan which is right near the UN building, for $80 per night. The rooms usually go for $200+ per night. Just choose the midtown and Upper East Side locations, and you'll be near the UN. Really anywhere in Manhattan and you can easily get to the UN via a cab or the subway. NYC has an amazing mass transit system, which is very safe. There is a site which talks about how exactly to book $80 hotel rooms in NYC through Priceline. You may want to check it out. http://www.CheapInTheCity.com With the ride into the city, you can take a cab, but it has a flat rate of $55 each way, plus tolls and a tip. Pretty much the cab will cost you a good $70 one way minimum. If there are four of you, this may be the best way. You can usually take the train and subway from the airports, but that may be difficult for you if you have never been here before and/or if you have lots of luggage. Another option is Super Shuttle. They will take you from the airport to anywhere in Manhattan for $19 each person. I hope this helps and have fun!
