Where are good places to live in Staten island?

What's the fastes way to get from Brooklyn to Staten Island?

  • I live in the downtown Brooklyn area (carroll gardens, boerum hill). I used Hopstop.com but whenever I use them to find other places, they give me the very long way. Anyway, is there an easier way to get from Brooklyn to Staten Island using public transportation. (No car)

    Take the 4 or 5 to South Ferry/Bowling Green station. Jump on the Ferry to SI. On the Staten Island side of the Ferry take the LOCAL SIRT train to the Stapelton Station. Get off there go up the block and make a left on Bay St go one block on Bay St and you will be at Water St. It is only a couple of stops from the Ferry,

simplest is to take the 4/5 to bowling green and get the Ferry. the ferry is free and a nice ride. otherwise you are taking a bus over the verrazano. BORING. there are express buses from NYC. I would suggest the first option above. buses might be faster but buses suck.

the 79 and the 53 both goto SI. im not positive where you get them but i think you get the 79 on 86th street by the PC richard and son but dont take my word for it. go check the mta website you can get all the bus routes.

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home. Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home!!!!
