Is Charlotte the New York City of North Carolina?
-
Charlotte is a big city in North Carolina. It has The Bank of America Building which is very tall actually. It also has 2 or 3 Professional Teams, and it is apparently the 2nd largest banking corporation in The United States outside of Wall Street. I live near Charlotte, and yes, it is rapidly growing. No, I live in Winston-Salem, which is a medium sized town, yet large. It has which was supposed to be The Duke Energy Tower, which believe-it-or-not looks like The New World Trade Centers that will be build on Ground Zero. It also has traffic on I-77 in and out of the city, people going to work, whether a good economy or bad economy, Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, which is about half the size of JFK International, and it also has where the Bobcats play "Bobcats Arena" which I think is North Carolina's MSG (Madison Square Garden), and it has tall buildings besides the two that I have named. Sure, New York City has many more 7 times as much, but not as many in Charlotte. The Charlotte AMTrak Station comes through and it is I think North Carolina's version of Grand Central Station, and there is Bank of America based there, just like Morgan Stanley is in New York, and it is the second largest bank firm in The US. It also has new Museums downtown that are kind of like The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Paramounts Carowinds is an amusement park there near the South Carolina border, and it is I think North Carolina's version of The World's Fair in Queens. Charlotte has apartments all around the City, maybe not run down, but modern for mainly college kids yet they are high-rise as well, like New York's run down except they are only modern. NASCAR is based there just like Baseball is in New York. It has The Billy Graham Freeway and this road is like the roads in New York. It also has Queen City Blvd. which because I have been there, it is basically North Carolina's 5th Avenue. It has fancy clothing stores too. So, is Charlotte the North Carolina version of Manhattan?

Answer:
Can't say. I did have a taco in the Charlotte airport once when I changed planes there. It was tasty! Seriously, Charlotte is Charlotte and NYC is NYC. Two different cities with their own charming qualities. If you live in Charlotte visit NYC. If you live in NYC visit Charlotte. BTW in the North Carolina I prefer Kill Devil Hills but I'm from Columbus, OH (The Paris of Ohio).

Not by a long shot I live here in Charlotte and while the last ten years there has been growth, especially in the night life and social scene, it doesn't compare at all to Manhatten.

OMG I am from Charlotte! Did you know that Charlotte is the second largest banking city in the US? But let me tell you, after visiting many other cities, Charlotte is completely different from any city in the US. The only way you can understand is if you come and visit. :)
