Ideas for overnight trip to NYC?

• My husband & I are headed to NYC next Thursday for a quick overnight trip. He has to work Thursday afternoon and Friday morning but I have nothing planned during those times. We're staying at the Waldorf Astoria. Thursday is my birthday, so he's promised to take me to dinner somewhere...I'm looking for some place with excellent steaks! Any suggestions? Any ideas of places I should go that aren't too far from the hotel while he is at work those 2 days? Oh...and I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant...I don't want to commit to too much walking, etc. Any suggestions for dinner & after or things for me to do while he works?

  A world-class once-in-a-lifetime steak dinner can be had at Smith & Wollensky, which is just a few blocks from the Waldorf, although, as a pregnant lady, you should probably take a taxi anyway. During the day, while he's working, go shopping!! NYC, especially the East Side, near the Waldorf, is home to some of the best shopping in the USA, so head over to 5th Avenue for the stores there and then head up to 57th St, and go east along 57th to Lexington Ave to see the stores along there, and then head up a block or two to 59th & Lexington for Bloomindales!! You can't beat it, and, if you get tired along the way, hail a cab- that's what they're there for!!
