How to get to Medieval Times in NJ from NYC?

Transportation from NJ on New Years to/from NYC?

  • My family and i will be staying in NJ because of the hotel price difference from NYC but we are wondering how easy is it on New Years weekend for available transportation to and from either way. How much will it costs us on average for a party of four? What is the best and most affordable way to get around? What time do trains/buses/subway stop at night to/from NJ and NYC? Any decent and reasonable hotel suggestions in NYC close to Times Square which we would like to spend New Years at? Any and ALL additional information will greatly be appreciated!! Thank you..:)

  • Answer:

There's an extensive system of trains and buses between New York and suburban New Jersey, most of which operates, albeit on a reduced schedule, on New Year's Day. New Jersey Transit operates the commuter trains from Penn Station in Manhattan to many points in New Jersey. There's also the PATH commuter subway, although that doesn't reach too far into the Jersey suburbs. Many private operators also have buses, although many of their routes are oriented toward commuters, and may not operate on holidays. For a specific answer, you'd have to say where in New Jersey you're planning to stay. Be aware that all of the schedules are posted on the Internet. For New Jersey Transit's, here's a link: http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainTo As for decent and reasonable hotels near Times Square--you're out of luck. The rates are always expensive, particularly so around New Years. You can check websites such as http://www.hotels.com and http://www.travelocity.com as well as http://www.priceline.com to verify what I am saying.

Other answers

It depends where in NJ you'll be staying as to whether you'll have 24/7 service. Hoboken, Jersey City, and Newark have 24/7 PATH service to NYC. There are also some bus routes that run 24/7, but you'll have to see www.njtransit.com for details to see if you're near one. I hope this information was very helpful.
