What's it like visiting New York?

Whats New York City like on Labor Day? Whats open/closed? Busy?

  • I'm visiting New York in September and my stay will coincide with Labor Day. As i am not American i don't know what to expect. Will everything be closed? Will it be really busy? I tried searching the net but got nothing. Thank You

  • Answer:

most stores have Labor day sales :)) they are definitely open. some banks, post offices (the one on 8th ave and 33 st is open 24/7) some small individually owned shops, and the stock exchange are closed, otherwise almost everything is open. City residents usually go away for the holiday and leave the city to the out of towners. Come and visit have fun then go home

Actually NYC isnt that busy, there isnt that much open because its a holiday. Everyone in the city will be a tourist as all new yorkers will be at, long beach, jones beach, or the jersey shore. Thats a little joke, but really, many people leave the city for the 3 day weekends.

Congrats! If you hate crowds, NYC on Labor day is great. A lot of the city residents head out of town.
