How long does it take to drive from Indianapolis to New York?

Is it eaiser to take New Jersey ferry or drive to New York broadway.?

  • I want to go to a play being hosted at Broadway in New York. I currently live near BWI airport in Maryland and I was debating on driving to New York and finding parking once I get there ( I know it will be insane) OR find a ferry in New Jersery and commuting around once I get there. I looked up the train routes for amtrak and I know I can drive and its cheaper.

    Well, it would certainly be easier (albeit expensive) to take the ferry, based on the two options you're presenting. Think about it: you don't have to deal with traffic or parking. Having said that, I would recommend finding a park and ride (check the NJ Transit website) and taking a bus, which is your cheapest option. It's expensive to drive into NYC, and free parking is generally hard to come by to put it mildly.

You can try to find a park-and-ride and take the train in. You can drive to Harrison, NJ, park, and then take the PATH into Manhattan for $4 round-trip. You'll save on gas, tolls, and parking (it costs money, but not as much as parking in Manhattan) for the last few miles. I hope this information was very helpful.

I would take the Outerbridge Crossing into Staten Island, find a convenient free parking place there, and take a $2.25 bus to the ferry (free), and the #1 IRT subway from the Manhattan side terminal.

It might be cheaper in terms of money to drive over taking Amtrak, but it can take hours to get into NYC once you get off the NJ Turnpike. So consider that as a different expense.
