What are new york high schools like?
-
im a sophmore in high school right now in texas. and my mom is thinking about moving me to new york to live with my dad and i was wondering how the high schools are. I know there's like no student parking and you have to ride the subway and bus to school.

Answer:
They all vary based on the neighborhood and the type of school (some are technical high school for smart children, and others are performing arts schools, and others might focus on science or law enforcement). And yeah, we get free Student MetroCards and take the buses and/or subway to school instead of taking a school bus. I hope this information was very helpful.

Actually, your description is pretty stale. New York High Schools behavior measures depend on the Neighborhood. Relatively, New York High Schools are good. Then there are tons of private schools around the town. Poorer neighborhoods sometimes consist of bad schools and bad fashion (lol) that you won't be really be so comfy with depending on who you are. I can also tell you on the most part, bullying doesn't really exist in New York high schools. And as for driving, some high schools in suburban New York City (Mainly Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island) have small lots where you can park your cars, though more students take the subway, or many just have their parents drive them. And if their aren't any lots, their is always the street parking.

If you're coming to New York City, then yes, for the most part, you have to use the subway. It's not too bad though. Also, no electronics are allowed in schools whatsoever. Many schools have metal detectors, btw. Also, some schools are better than others, and just to respond to the person above me, bullying is not as prevalent in NYC high schools, but bullying will always happen, it's a fact of high school, no matter where you go. Oh, and there are tests called Regents done every year that you must pass based on the subject (e.g. Global History, Algebra, English, etc.) in order to graduate.
